Within the UK the number of orgainsed groups enjoying rock climbing
and abseiling at outcrops, crags, quarries and climbing walls has
multiplied in recent years. MLTUK are concerned that high standards
of supervision are maintained, so that both enjoyment and safety
are enhanced, without compromising either the sport of climbing or
the participation of other crag and wall users. The SPA was set up
to provide high standards of supervision delivered through courses
providing formal training and assessment for registered candidates.
The scheme is designed to provide a basic level of competence for those
in a position of responsibility during single pitch rock climbing activities.
Prior to booking a course you need to first register for the SPA award
with your home nation training board for example (MLTS) Mountain Leader
