SPA Training & Assessment Equipment List

For your comfort and safety it is important candidates bring to the course all equipment items listed below.
Where you see an * equipment is provided by climbmts however, if you have all the equipment listed with an * then please bring with you. We encourage candidates to use their own kit.

Technical kit
Crag approach shoes
40 to 50 litre rucksack compression strap style
Hydration either flask or water bottle / bladder
SMC highland outcrop guide book
Personal first aid kit
Waterproof note pad, recommend (rite in the rain, all weather note book) www.RiteintheRain.com
Lightweight waterproof trousers and jacket
Spare mid layer
Warm hat
Sun cap, sun glasses, sun cream
Up to date SPA candidate logbook
Helmet *
Harness *
Rock shoes
Chalk bag *
2 x prussiks (5 or 6mm)
1 x belay plate with HMS locking karabiner *
Climbing rack (should have a good range of Protection)
1 x single full-weight 50 metre dynamic climbing rope *
Group rigging equipment edge and rope
Protectors all provided by climbmts *

With practise all items will fit into a 50 litre alpinist style compression strap rucksack.

You may have items you want to bring with you which are not listed above, if in doubt please bring with you.

If you have opted for self catering accommodation please ensure you have enough food to cater your needs for the entire 2 day course.

Please remember to bring a dish towel, bath towel and wash kit and personal clothing for wearing indoors,
especially soft shoes for travelling.
