Cuillin Walker Course Equipment List

For your comfort and safety it is important clients bring to the course all equipment items listed below.
Where you see an * equipment is provided by climbmts however, if you have all the equipment listed with an * then please bring with you. We encourage clients to use their own personal kit.

Course Food
This aspect of the course is vital to get right, you need to think about healthy food that will sustain you for 5 physically demanding days on the hill. Please eat nutritious food and carry with you emergency food supplements every day. For tips and handy hints - Trail magazine have an excellent monthly section on healthy hill food.
You can shop at the co-op supermarket at Kylachain just before the bridge crossing to Skye or stop at the co-op at Broadford or shop at Tesco in Portree or Sommerfields supermarket in Fort William.

Hydration
One of the key areas our clients regularly get wrong is managing their hydration input so, therefore we offer some advice, dehydration is the most common contributory cause of clients failing to complete the ridge traverse or completing a big alpine day out.
Regularly hydrate in the morning before course departure and during the mountain day and upon return. You can measure this by monitoring how much you drink and more importantly how much you pee out.
Our advice is to carry an energy powder mix like High 5. It's best to use this in combination with a wide opening nalgene bottle. (easy to access and get powder mixes into).
