Mountain Skills Training Courses

Winter/Summer

Scotland experienced one of the best winters for recreational mountain sport since the mid 1980’s in 2010. A thick blanket of snow lay in place from November 2009 to beginning of July 2010, with ski touring lasting until the end of June on the high plateau areas of the Cairngorm National Park, and other high peaks of the Scottish Highlands.

Scotland hosts some of the best adventure terrain to be found in Northern Europe. Outdoor recreationalists cannot resist its vast remote rugged landscape. Once
seen or experienced you will be sure to be tempted back.

Tiso has been sharing this lifestyle with thousands of people for well over 40 years and for 11 of those years Stuart Johnston Climbmts, has provided a vast range of outdoor courses led by industry experts and their teams of highly qualified instructors.

To make the most of a weekend, begin by maximising your outdoor skills and at the same time learn about how outdoor equipment really works when it matters.

Our industry led experts

For the 11th year running, TISO and top instructors at Climbmts will be offering an unbeatable mountain skills programme of short one day courses.

Climbmts is run by renowned Mountaineering Instructor Stuart Johnston MIC, co-author of the newly revised Mountain Skills Training Handbook, Hillwalkers Guide to Mountaineering, and the forthcoming Ultimate Guide to Wild Camp Cookery. Stuart is a regular contributor to Britain’s largest selling outdoor magazine TRAIL.

Whether it’s your first time out there or you would like to further develop your skills and experience, our courses will help you to attain your outdoor aspirations. Learn new skills and experience the splendour of Scotland’s mountains through the guidance of our highly qualified mountain instructors and leaders.

Without essential outdoor skills and equipment, it’s all too easy to get caught out, regardless of how much you enjoy the great outdoors. Learning mountain skills will not only enhance your enjoyment of the hills but make it a safer experience. By attending one of our courses you will ultimately share knowledge, meet new friends, learn new skills and of course have a brilliant day out with like minded people.

We look forward to meeting you.
