Everyone
can navigate to some level, but
what skills are you most likely to need
for the mountains of the UK?
The art of navigation is knowing where you
are, where you’re going and how you’re
going to get there safely. Micro navigation
techniques will help you get this right and stay on track. Knowing
which techniques to use and when, is essential
for successful navigation. The
techniques taught will help you to stay
out of trouble when the weather gets bad and visibility becomes poor.
The course will build a platform of robust
mountain navigation skills you
can take anywhere, on any terrain.
The course will provide the following:
• Map setting techniques and detailed
map reading
• How to use terrain features and how
to scale them on any type of terrain
• How to use a compass
• Relocation techniques using map and compass
• How to navigate in poor visibility, just
when it matters
• How to measure and calculate distance
using a variety of map scales
This course is great fun too and will include
advice on route planning and navigation
equipment such as the use of GPS inmountain navigation
