Scrambling

Learn the skills to tackle Scotland’s classic routes
Scrambling is arguably the most exciting outdoor activity where you can take advantage of the Scottish mountains. To do this safely and with confidence requires a steady approach, knowledge and rope skills.

Our one day course will help you understand as well as acquire the skills and techniques you will need to tackle the challenges of Scotland’s mountains.

This course will provide skills training in the following areas:
• Equipment advice from climbing protection to rope to footwear
• Alpine rope skills – when to rope and how to use it
• Coaching of safe movement skills – tips for ascent and descent
• Tips on interpreting guide books and understanding the route grades
• How to build an anchor and stance manage your rope pitch
• Introduction to belaying – making it safe and fast to use
• Planning for routes and tips on how to prepare for a Scottish graded scramble route
