A day’s
training can go a long way and keep
you safe out there.
Since 1980 there has been over 600
avalanche incidents in the Scottish
Mountains. A huge number of people
have either walked away unscathed,
been seriously injured or lost their
lives. There has been a lot of research
into the cause of avalanche accidents
and just as much affirmative education
on how to avoid them. Avalanches
are avoidable, but knowing how to
requires training.
This course offers a practical day
out with industry led avalanche educators
and covers the following:
•
How the snow-pack is formed
•
What makes snow slide
•
How to determine danger zones from
forecasting sources from
your armchair
•
Tips to plan a winter journey
•
Practical field observations
•
Safe travel techniques practised
and discussed
•
What to do if caught in an avalanche
•
Avalanche safety equipment
Don’t become a victim through
lack of knowledge and experience.
A day’s avalanche instruction
can help you avoid dangerous snowpack
conditions when it looks perfectly
safe.
