Avalanche Course Equipment List

Climbmts provide all avalanche transceivers, probes and snow shovels, however, if you have your own please bring with you.

To allow the course to run smoothly and safely it is important clients have the following equipment items.

Personal Technical Equipment

Day pack at least 35 to 45 litre compression strap style, include waterproof rucksack liner
Ice axe
Crampons
Trekking poles
Snow shovel
Avalanche transceiver
Avalanche probe 2m.65cm length
Helmet
4 season boots + gaiters
OS sheet 51 with waterproof map cover
Compass
Survival bag
Personal first aid kit
Ski goggles, Sun glasses , UV rated sun cream high factor and lipbalm
Head torch
Camera
Flask or water bottle + Lunch

Personal Clothing
Warm waterproof gloves + spare
Warm hat + spare
Waterproof trousers and jacket
Mid-layer and spare (fleece or puffball jacket or down vest)
Next to skin garments are usually the most important ones for
Example; merino wool is highly recommended it doesn’t itch and has great moisture transfer properties.

Personal Medications
Please make sure you have any personal medications with you, it is essential you inform your group instructor of ;
Current or past medical conditions to which you are medicine dependent
At time of course, types / names of medicines you take
Current or previous injuries
Recent surgery
All information provided to our instructor will be held in the strictest of confidence and will only be given to appropriate medical staff in the event of an emergency.
