Scottish winter climbing
offers some of the best accessible climbing
experiences to be found in Northern Europe.
Scotland’s winter mountain routes are world renowned for gully
and mixed climbing styles.
We have a plethora of accessible routes from road side to mountain
side in fact thousands of routes and many were first recorded over
a century ago. However, climbing grades and techniques today have evolved
to high standards comparable to anywhere in the world and that is what
attracts climbing tourism from around the world to Scotland.
Our winter climbing season can be as early as November however, the
most reliable time of the year for winter climbing in Scotland is end
of January to the middle of April.
The main climbing areas are used the South East Highlands, Glen Coe
and the Southern Cairngorms.
