Last
winter saw bumper snow conditions on
the high mountains in Scotland.
Which meant all of our courses experienced
snow underfoot as well as the varied
weather conditions we expect, snowfall,
blizzards and sunshine the perfect winters
day.
Despite it being warmer at lower altitudes,
Scotland’s mountain summits is
as ever full on and serious in winter
conditions.
So if you’re planning on getting
out next winter it’s now time to
think about carving time out of your
busy diary.
Trails’ Stuart Johnston MIC is
one of Britain’s most highly qualified
instructors and is co-author of the new
up to date The Mountain Skills Training
Handbook and the Hillwalkers Guide to
Mountaineering.
Climbmts have some of the best winter
terrain to be found in Scotland.
Our courses will allow you to experience
winter conditions close with our expert
team of instructors who will give you
the skills you need to enjoy the winter
mountains.
All in course transport provided, all
you have to do is get there.
We also have an extensive equipment
hire facility, you can hire winter
four season boots, crampons and ice

You have the basic skills and you now
want to tackle steeper winter terrain
like ridges to access winter summits.
This course will introduce you to Scottish
winter grade 1 terrain, we will however
refresh your basic skills and introduce
winter alpine skills. We will teach you
safe and efficient rope techniques for
tackling ridges and skills to deal with
other awkward exposed winter terrain
hazards such as cornices and steep
hard packed snow.
You will learn to:
Ascend
and descend steep slopes
Climb
and protect sections of technical terrain
on ridges
Build
and use snow pack anchors in context
Build
rock anchors using basic equipment
and your rope
Learn
and develop your avalanche knowledge
and safe travel skills in winter
terrain
Improve
your winter navigation
Learn
to plan for winter mountaineering trips
and understand the grades and equipment
Climb
classic ridges and summit classic winter
mountains

location has access to well over 30
Munros in the immediate area, our local
village of Aberfeldy is surrounded
by hills and forests and is well serviced
with excellent amenities and transport
services. Aberfeldy is truly the adventure
