How
does the ITS work?
We aim to get the scheme right for you and that takes effective communication
in understanding what real experience you have and what experience
/ additional training you will need to attain a nationally recognised
qualification.
A face to face meeting will ascertain what we can offer and realistically
challenge you with - we prepare and present a draft PTP in relation
to your experience, aspirations and length of time you wish to stay
in training. Each ITS student will have different experiences, needs
and aspirations that’s why our ITS students receive tailored
made PTP’s
The key areas of the PTP are;
Training course schedule
Personal experience / consolidation schedule
Work experience schedule
Skills health check schedule
Work experience schedule
Assessment course schedule
Once we establish and agree a PTP You will
receive a confirmation, training contract and welcome pack containing
all the necessary
information you will need to start and complete your training scheme.
The
scheme we offer stretches from 3 to 6 months. The length of time required
will depend upon your tailored PTP we guarantee quality
training and experience but we can not guarantee you will pass
formal assessments that part we leave for you to achieve, but there
is no shortage of advice , support and most of all mentoring when
you need it.
Our winter programme is 3 months and the summer programme
is from 4 to 6 months. |

What
we don’t offer!
Unlike other schemes out-there we don’t provide accommodation
and food as part of the course costs, you need to move in to the
local area, but we do provide accommodation contacts at very reasonable
rates.
Scheme registration fees for the home nation boards ML and SPA awards
are met fully by the ITS student however, we will advise you on how
to register.
Personal equipment is something you will need to bring
with you however; we do supply lots of technical kit for you to borrow.
What experience do I need?
You can start with having no experience
of walking or climbing to having experienced a lot, remember each
ITS student has their
own tailored PTP however, our ITS is suited to those individuals
who have some experience of mountains.
So what will it cost me?
Anywhere between £4000 and £6000
it depends on your PTP some people may only require 4 months and
others may require
the whole 6 months. |
 |
When
can I start?
For the summer programme the beginning of May For a winter
programme the beginning of January to beginning of April a 3 month
period.
Where are the courses based?
Most of our courses are based from Aberfeldy,
but you will be travelling all over Scotland as far as Skye and the
black cuillins.
But most of your training and work experience will
be based in Aberfeldy Perthshire.
The Aberfeldy area is brilliant
with over 30 Munros on the doorstep and some of the finest road side
crags in Scotland only a short
drive away, the mountain walking, biking and climbing is fantastic
Aberfeldy is officially

from
your tailored training scheme, be sure to share your vision with
us to achieve the very best advice we can offer, if we don’t
feel our course is right for you.. We’ll tell you. This step
