CANADIAN
ICE 2008
3rd to 8th March 08, 1-2 ratio
Ice Climbing Programme
Our ice climbing programme is specifically tailor designed;
it is particularly useful for those that have some experience in British mountaineering
who are making the transition to waterfall ice climbing.
You will receive complete foundation skills to enable you to head out on your
own with a solid confirmation of your ability; the course is based at the Ice
field Parkway, Highway 97 which is the highway that connects Banff and Jasper
National Parks.
This area contains a high concentration of routes of all grades; from Ramparts
Creek Hostel we are able to access routes on the Parkway as well as routes
on the David Thompson Highway. Many of the routes are within a half an hour
walk from the parking area, this will maximise our time on the ice.
Accommodation
Our accommodation base in Canmore is The Alpine Club Clubhouse. The facilities
are first class; we will be staying in This facility for the initial two nights
of the trip before moving on to Ramparts Creek Hostel.
Ramparts is where one must stay when ice climbing
in the Canadian Rockies. It is a part of Canadian Ice Climbing
history. We will be based here for the following four nights and
then back to the Alpine Club Clubhouse for one night before the
final week of the trip.
There is an option of staying a further week
to enjoy Banff and surrounding areas, we can recommend some excellent
accommodation and other local facilities.
The
cost of the trip is £1500.00 per person, 1-2 ratio, this
includes, in course transport, meals for 6 days and alpine
hut accommodation. Courses do not include; return flights from
the UK.
