Mountain Skills
Training Courses

Winter/Summer

Scotland’s mountains offer exciting exploits and challenging terrain in summer or winter conditions and that’s the appeal that makes getting to these amazing playgrounds of ridges and summits a serious undertaking.

As with any remote and rugged environment, there are many hazards and anyone venturing into the Scottish hills needs to consider learning and improving the necessary skills to get there and back safely. Without these essential skills and equipment it’s all too easy to get caught out, no matter what the time of year.

How to get the hills to yourself..
A little training can go a long way and can help you to go a long way safely too. Whether you’re an experienced mountaineer or a novice, you should start with a Tiso Skills Training Course and pick up the knowledge on where to go and how to get there.

Who runs our MST Courses?
For the 7th year running Tiso and top instructors at Stuart Johnston Mountaineering have again designed an unbeatable programme of short weekend courses to help you stay safe in the mountains.

Under the guidance of renowned mountaineering instructor Stuart Johnston MIC, a regular contributor to Trail magazine, coauthor of The Hillwalker’s Guide to Mountaineering and The Mountain Skills Training Handbook, the courses and staff have been tried, tested and approved by hundreds of mountain goers since their launch in 2000.

Whatever your experience our courses will help you to get out and enjoy the splendour of the mountains through the experience of our qualified instructors and leaders.
