Sport Rock Climber Improver

Our improver course provides a solid introduction to single
pitch climbing both indoors and outdoors on some of the finest roadside crags in Scotland. Friday evening’s workshop introduces equipment, injury avoidance, movement and the essential skill of belaying (the way you stop a fall!) using a variety of sound techniques.

If you’re thinking of heading to European or UK sport climbing
destinations this course will help you to go there with added
confidence.

At the crag we introduce skills from sport climbing lead
techniques and ‘bottom’ rope protection systems to lead
clipping and safe descent skills when retreating from
single and multi-pitch anchor points. Opportunities to chat
through technical problems and awareness issues will also be encouraged with lots of top tips on offer.

Essential kit includes rock shoes, helmet, harness, belay device and an HMS screwgate karabiner (you can hire all of the personal equipment you need except rock shoes). Ropes and other technical hardware are provided.

Rock climbing training will influence change to your psychological control, movement technique, how you lead clip and belay safely and, just as importantly, how to keep climbing fun and motivational.
