Introduction to Winter Mountaineering

This course is for those who wish to learn rope-work associated with winter ridges and exposed slopes leading to ridges and cols.

The evening workshop introduces rope-work and equipment
associated with the winter environment. It’s a hands on
approach not only on the Friday evening but on the mountain too. We begin the mountain day with a brief refresher on self arrest, cramponing and avalanche awareness; we review rope work from the evening before and then introduce snow-pack belays and steep ground movement skills. Why confidence can save your life...

Self preservation can be performed quickly, smoothly and efficiently. Knowing what to do with practise builds your
confidence and is a reliable blueprint to always draw from.
